UP: You could be at a bar, a friend’s party, the library, the convenient store. You never know when you’ll find your next sex partner-in-crime.
DOWN: It can also happen never, nowhere, with no one. In other words, with random sex you run the risk of going home empty-handed, when you really, really, reeaally didn’t want to.

2. You have the next morning all to yourself.

UP: You don’t have to go out to breakfast, you don’t have to spend the day together, you don’t even have to look good or be nice because, hey, what’s done is done. All you have to do is get your shit and go, or, even better, lie in bed as they get their shit and go.
DOWN: This also means there’s no one to hold your hand for your walk of shame, or get you Advil for your hangover.

3. After tonight, you’ll probably never see them again.

UP: This is great, if the sex was bad, or just okay and you want to move on to bigger and better things.
DOWN: This can be massively unfortunate, if it was the best sex you’ve ever had. Or if you just got knocked up.

4. You can change your persona from hook up to hook up.

UP: Since your random partner doesn’t know you, you can get them to believe you are whoever you want to be—a foreign exchange student, a porn-star, the “good girl”, the “bad boy”.
DOWN: This rule applies to your sex partner too, so don’t be surprised when that “heir-to-millions” is actually a cashier at K-mart.
